Galway Jobs Expo : Review and jobs!
Entrance sign to the Jobs Expo Galway
I was at the Jobs Expo Galway yesterday, this is the third year I attended the event, you can check out my write up from last year here.
The Expo took place at a new venue this year, at the Galway Race course. I ended up doing a bit of a detour, as the main entrance wasn’t open and had to go to the Parkmore entrance to get in.
There were about 30+ Stands ( a lot more than last year), mainly representing the Medtech Sector and a few newcomers:).There were no Hotel/catering companies and only one or two Software companies, a few recruitment agencies and educational stands. There were a number of workshops which were well attended.
The medtech sector, by far, is the largest sector in Galway, employing well over 7500 people in Co. Galway. I recently read in “ County Galway 101 Interesting facts” that Co. Galway boasts the 2nd highest concentration of Medical companies in the world, Minnesota in the USA topping the poll.
Check this link to find out all the Exhibitors.
As I walked around, I talked to most of the stand holders who were all busy chatting with job seekers. I took pictures of all the jobs I saw advertised. Interesting to note that the majority of the stands referred all the visitors to their website, or they had ran out of job sheets. It was a very busy event!

If you are a medical engineer there are (almost) unlimited possibilities in Galway! Boston Scientific is the largest employer in the medical sector and as they have so many vacancies, I was directed to their website and was advised to set up an alert, so you can tailor what job you are looking for.
All the medical companies employ product operators in their clean rooms. These jobs can be short term or contract based, often leading to full-time jobs, and invariably they are sourced via recruitment agencies.
